Senators Announce Spring Tryout Schedule

Arlington Senior Babe Ruth travel program, the Arlington Senators, have announced their tryout dates for Spring 2023 teams. Also coming up is a tryout for current 12u players for Senators fall 13u teams. Learn more about the Senators and register to tryout here on the Senators website.

12U (for fall 13U teams) — March 11, 6:00 - 9:00 pm, Barcroft 6/Tucker Field

13U — February 25, 11:30 am - 2:30 pm, Gunston ball diamond, and February 27, 8:00 - 9:30 pm, Gunston ball diamond

14U — March 4, 11:30 am - 2:30 pm, Gunston ball diamond, and March 6, 6:30 - 9:30 pm, Barcroft 6/Tucker Field 

ASBR Rosters All-Girls Team

Last spring, ASBR proudly rostered an all-girls baseball team coached by Jen Hammond, who also is an associate head coach for the Thomas Jefferson HS Colonials varsity baseball team.

The girls took a few lumps that season, oftentimes playing against much older players, but they returned this fall and their hard work paid off with a winning season!

Coach Hammond was excited to share this about her team, “The girls showed so much growth in their mental and physical game. More important than the record, they showed they were continuing to grow as ballplayers and people; to become more confident on and off the field; to build their baseball IQ, and to truly play as a team.  

Jen Hammond is the resident catching instructor for the ASBR Senators and assists with Senators teams as well.

ASBR 13s All-Stars Advance to SE Regionals!

ASBR 13s (pictured) and 14s advanced to the semifinals in their state competitions. The 13s received an at-large bid to advance to the Southeast Regional tournament in Florida! 

ASBR Champions - Top 20 in Arlington News Stories!

ASBR 13s All-Stars ranked #12 in the Arlington Sun Gazette Top 20 sports news stories of 2021!  The team was coached by our new Senators Director, Graeme Fineman, along with Will Fineman and Josh Jones. They share the spotlight with Torri Huske’s Olympic medal.  Read more here:

ABR’s 9U team that went to the Babe Ruth World Series also made the list!  Lots of great youth baseball in Arlington!

Reece Wilder MVP of 13s State Tournament

Reece Wilder pitched a complete shut-out for the district championship against Vienna. A week later she pitched the final game against Charlottesville to clinch the state title. She was named MVP of the State tournament.

World Series Team on Parade with World Series Nats!

The ASBR 15s World Series team spent a day with the Washington Nationals World Series team! They chatted with the players, took a few photos and then walked in the parade--behind Sean Doolittle and his light saber. One commented, "This is something I will remember for the rest of my life." Hard to know which world series player might have said that. More photos are posted in the photo album top tab on the home page.

15s Journey to Babe Ruth World Series!

The 2019 15YO All-Stars team swept the Southeast Regional Tournament in their undefeated march to win the championship. The final game was won by walk-off against Lawrenceville, TN with a final score of 11-10. Read all about it here InsideNOVA.

The team traveled to Bismarck, ND for the Babe Ruth World Series.
