Tentative Schedule for Summer 2024

Early June – Tryouts for ASBR All-Star teams (Open to all ASBR players)

June – ASBR All-Star and Travel team practice, plus two tournaments

July – Babe Ruth All-Star Trail and possibly another tournament (usually 4 tournaments)

July 11-15 - 14u All-Stars host the Virginia Babe Ruth Tournament. All games will be played at Barcroft Park/Tucker Field.

August – Babe Ruth World Series, if team qualifies

If there is interest, ASBR will offer two teams for this age group. The district team will have events scheduled from mid-June through July. If the team advances to the Babe Ruth Regional tournament, its play could extend until August. The team typically practices four nights a week and has tournaments scheduled on weekends.

If there is interest among non-All-Star players and their families, ASBR will form a summer tournament team to play games versus local competition and some tournaments. The dates are roughly June 15 through July 20.  Expect two-to-three practices a week and games on weekends.

13-Year-Old All-Stars Commitment:  Players on the District team must commit fully to all practices and tournaments from June 15 through potentially July 30. Missing a day or two will not preclude participation on this team. However, missing more than that will mean the player may be placed on the Travel team. Players on the Travel team can miss up to one week (inclusive of one tournament weekend) and still participate. All players should come to tryouts prepared to disclose planned absences from June 15-July 30.

Note: Babe Ruth International has changed the age-group classification to include 16-year-olds in what was previously 15-year-olds and younger. 

ASBR plans to field a 14-year-old All-Star team and a 15/16-year-old All-Star teams. The 14- and 15/16-year-old teams will have events scheduled from mid-June through July 30, and through early August if the team advances to the BR World Series. The teams typically practice four nights a week and have tournaments scheduled for three consecutive weekends from June 15 through July 13, with a likely State tournament (dates TBD). The BR Regional Tournaments are scheduled around July 18-23 (14s) and July 25-30 (15/16s). The 14u team will consist of a roster of approximately 12 players.  The 15/16u team will have a roster of approximately 14 players.

Tryouts for any 14- and 15/16-year-old interested in playing in the summer will be held in the last two weeks of May, after the after high school season.

If there is interest among non-All-Star players and their families, ASBR will form a summer tournament team to play games versus local competition and some tournaments. The dates are roughly June 15 through July 20.  Expect two-to-three practices a week and games on weekends. 

14- and 15/16-Year-Old All-Stars Commitment:  Players on these two All-Star teams must commit fully to all practices and tournaments from mid-June to the end of July. Because of the compressed schedule, missing an entire weekend tournament should be avoided. All players should come prepared to disclose planned absences from June 10-July 30 at the first tryout.

Depending on interest, ASBR intends to field an All-Star team for this age group. Tryout dates and times are to be determined. The Senior All-Star team typically practices four nights a week and will have events scheduled from mid-June through mid-July.
